My campaign announcement addresses some starling concerns for us, citizens of Alabama. As a practicing attorney, I truly love my profession and try to uphold the highest ethical and moral principles that undergird our system of jurisprudence. Moral principles that are the foundation of justice system. Frankly, I am the candidate who will uphold those principles.
Sadly, rightfully or wrongfully, our Supreme Court has developed a shameful perception that somehow justice is for sale due to the incredible and obscene amounts of money pouring into these races from out-of-state clandestine groups.
As one who is sworn to uphold the constitution, I am bothered by repeated article after article
questioning the impartiality of justice in Alabama. This is problem so big that a long line of State Bar presidents, from all sides of legal practice, have raised this perception problem as the most pressing legal concern in our State for several years now. This perception is so pervasive that it has made headlines in newspapers across the country.
Let’s not overlook the problem of frivolous lawsuits. People are deeply concerned about this perception of the legal system as well. As an attorney, I know I am. No one should profit by filing a frivolous claim. Laws and rules exist to fight this problem and I promise to enforce the law and be vigilant to make sure this does not happen on cases coming before the Alabama Supreme Court. As justice, I will stop frivolous lawsuits.
Please see my resume for this important position and realize that over the years of my law practice, representing everyday citizens and small businesses, I have handled a broad spectrum of legal maters. This hands-on legal experience makes me uniquely qualified for honorable, knowledgeable and principled service to ALL people who seek justice in Alabama.
